Mei Matsumoto

Mei Matsumoto is the name on the cover, and the covers multiply. The listing carries Ran Nakazawa, Laura Matsumoto, Mai Matsumoto and May Matsumoto beside it, four variants that are neither a second career nor a clerical error. Japanese adult video runs on labels, and a performer who works for several of them can be renamed for each. The Japanese form of the name travels badly in Latin script, so the spellings drift: Mei becomes Mai, and Matsumoto picks up a Laura in front of it. The aliases are one performer seen through different distribution deals, and a reader who wants the whole list has to search all five.

Her frame is small even by the standards of the Japanese industry: 1.55 m, slim, with brown hair and brown eyes. That builds a specific register, the one the business calls the girl next door, and it shapes what a scene asks of her. She is not cast as the authority in the room. She is cast as the young woman the situation happens to, which is a different kind of performance: reaction, hesitation, and then the turn. The listing records what the camera shows, topless, bush and full frontal, and it records the boy/girl format without dressing it up.
